The Royal Stage rods have a very similar action to Nissins top end rod series the Zerosum but at a better price. As is normally the case the 6:4 bends deeper into the rod section as compared to the 7:3. Both rods can handle anything most Tenkara anglers would use the rods for. Level lines in the 3.0 -4.0 range. Furled lines work well, especially in the 7:3 version. Appropriate sized bedheads, dries and kebari patterns are all possible.
In the Nissin line of rods, the difference between 6:4 – 7:3 actions tend to be a personal choice. One is not better than the other. It really gets down to how the angler prefers to use their rods and preferred casting styles. The 6:4 is a little smoother and slower casting with the 7:3 crisper and requiring a slightly faster casting stoke. Both are light in the hand and wonderfully balanced. Almost universally we will start with a softer rod and then switch if conditions, or our mood changes.
