The Nissin Oni Honyru 395 and 450 rods are thought by many to be some of the finest Japanese Tenkara rods available. Like all the rods bearing the Oni name these were also developed with input from the famous Tenkara Master, Mr. Masami Sakakibara.

These rods are very accurate and equally important, easy to be accurate with. Strait, delicate cast are easily possible making this rod ideal for experienced and new Tenkara anglers. Construction fit and finish is excellent!

The 395 is arguably the most versatile rod in its class. Rated by Nissin as a 7:3 rod. Best described as having appreciable fish fighting strength in the mid sections as it tapers to a flexible medium action tip. Easily cast dry and wet flies. Also, handles moderate nymphing with no difficulties. Cast 3.5 – 4.0 level lines and most anglers favorite furled and PVC lines.

The question on most anglers' mind, how does it fish? Excellent across all sizes of fish most anglers will run into on their favorite streams. On a recent trip to the South Platte, we got into a few 18-inch rainbows. The rod handled them perfectly and had power in reserve. On the streams that will accommodate a longer rod you will need no other for a day on the stream.

The 450 follows all the aspects described for the 395 and cosmetically identical. A little more reach, a little bigger fish, a little larger fly for all practical purposes, the only differences. As rods get this long physics take over and they become a little tip heavy. However out of all the rods this long the 450 is probably one of the least tip heavy of the group.
