This a hi-vis yellow fluorocarbon line made in Japan. Other manufacturers normally produce spools of 20 or 30 meters. However the Yamatoyo line comes in a spool of 50 meters. Just like other Japanese lines it has great casting characteristics.
The line comes in 3 sizes 3.0 , 3.5 and 4.0. If you are new to Tenkara don't worry about what size to get as they will all work just fine.The 3.0 presents a fly a little more delicately and allows you to keep more line off the water. The 4.0 casts a heavier fly a little easier and performs better in windy conditions. As a result the 4.0 is also a good choice for beginners to Tenkara. However it is a little bit harder to keep as much line off the water.
The 3.5 is a compromise between the two sizes. It is looked at as an "all around" line by many. We recommend a couple sizes for different conditions. However if you are unsure try the 3.5 or 4.0. In some conditions the yellow shows better on the water then our orange Nissin line. In other conditions it's the orange that anglers can see better. We like to keep both colors available to adapt to different conditions. However again, if you are new to Tenkara do not stress over which line to get. Pick one, fish it and have fun.
